I'm using an eMac, 1GH, 384M, 55GB, OS X 10.2.8. I'm thinking of moving up to Panther (10.3). Can I install 10.3 (from CD's) without losing any information I now have on the hard drive. Any suggestions, cautions, etc will be appreciated.

You should be 100% fine upgrading from 10.2 to 10.3. It's always a good idea to do a backup just in case, but the risk of data loss is extremely low.

I agree. I've just done the upgrade from 10.2.8 to 10.3.2 with the new install CD's. The box set of Panther comes with 3 x cds. For your upgrade, you will probably be required to use 2 of the 3 cds for the install.
