Reply: (edit)well, make sure classic is installed. (check "system pref"-> "classic". if it say classic is installed, you don't need to install anything. else find "install classic" your OS X 10.3 CD's and install it.

Reply: (edit)As a follow up message to the one posted above, welcome to the wonderful world of the Macintosh Computer! We are here to help. As for your problem, the way you stated your problem makes me suspect that is should work in both OS X and OX 9. Try finding any OS X drivers on either the CD that came with the product or on the manufacturer's web site. If this is not the case, you will need to install OS 9 itself or the Classic emulator on your computer. I would recommend trying to install the classic emulator as a first choice as I hate having to boot back and forth between the two OSes to run a single application. What this means is that you can be running in OS X for everything and when you need to access that application it will either have launched the OS 9 emulator at startup or will launch it prior to running your older software. To do this you will need your OS X disks. Locate the first one and place it into your computer. It should mount automatically but if not double-click the CD icon. There should be something titled "Install Classic applications and support" or something like that. Double-click this and install the OS 9 Emulator. Voila! You are finished. If that is not an option you will need to find an OS 9 install disk from back in the day. You can probably still purchase this from Apple if you need to by calling 1-800- GO-APPLE. Once you have this disk, boot from it by restarting your computer and holding the 'C' key during the boot tones. Once you get to the OS installer application on there you will want to select "erase and install" as your install option. Don't worry about this as only OS X disks will completely erase the whole drive. If you are nervous about this you might want to back up your data first but I have never had a problem this way. The OS 9 clean install only erases the space it will be installing that OS to. Once this install process finishes you will be able restart the computer into OS X by selecting the Startup Disk in the Control Panel option in the Apple menu over on the top left then selecting the OS X volume to boot from. Good luck!
