Hi, recently a storm fried my modem, router, and network interface card. I'm asking what kind of nic is needed to replace the built in nic on my imac. Also how do i install this new nic. Any links or instructions would be much appreciated. Thanks...ColinH

You can't install a NIC in an iMac. The Ethernet is part of the main board.

bobw is right. There are two ways to fix this problem, though:

1) USB ethernet devices. I don't know how well/if these work.

2) Go to you neighborhood Apple Authorized repair place and get them to fix it. Depending if its under warrenty or not, this may not be cheap.

Well thx for the info, quite a bummer though. I'll probably go with the usb ethernet device. Any suggestions on good ones etc??

Thanks
