Can I install OEM versions of Windows XP, Home or
Pro, on my iMac? Apple store says it might work - no
guarantee, but some vendors say not compatible with
Mac. I don't mean manufacturer-specific versions like
Dell or HP, just garden variety OEMs like many
available on eBay with a token hardware item thrown
in to meet Microsoft requirements. Thanx, Walt

A PC is a PC. Yes, you can install Winblows on an Intel Mac. Or should I say an expensive PC that runs BSD unix with a GUi on top?
PowerMac 9600(1 ghz G4)
512mb RAM
50gb SCSI
ATi 9200 PCI

Yes. Using BootCamp or one of the VM packages like Parallels or VM Ware Fusion. When I need to run Windows I just remote into my work PC because I only use Windows for work.I VPN in and use CoRD for Remote Desktop.

I'm not sure my question was clearly understood. I know I can
install retail versions of XP on my Mac and I know how. My
question is specific to OEM versions. Will it make any
difference to my Mac as to which version I'm installing? I have
read elsewhere that OEM versions won't work. Is that so?
Thanx again.
