Hi,

Sounds like non apple memory in G4. remove
memory to a single stick of 128 meg and try
again. If that don't work, reset pram.

Suspect that you have a slight flaw in
memory- won't affect day to day stuff, but
install disks are really touchy about
installing OS10.4

On old macs it seems almost impossible to read the 'new'
DVDs that are packaged with copies of 10.4 retail boxes. The
Cube (2001) is one such model. it gives errors over and over
again. Once you attach a 'new' ie modern DVD reader via
firewire, bingo, it installs first time, no probs.
