Hello,
Having problem w/ my mac floppy drive... when i insert a disk it freezes the computer.... so i was told to zap pram (didn't work) and then i also tried turning off extensions (when i do this it doesnt freeze, but it is unable to initialize the floppy)..... if anyone knows what's going on that'd be great. thanks!

Get thee to ramseeker.com and get some more RAM. I'm surprised 8.6 is even *running* in 32 MB.

Is it the floppy that came with the Mac, or is it a USB-based external?

Why does the lack of ram cause it to freeze when reading the A drive though? it's internal floppy, not usb btw. Thanks for the quick response!

See if cleaning the drives helps at all. There are directions on Low End Mac.
