I currently have an iBook G4 and am having fun playing around with iMovie. I now want to burn my projects onto DVD, but my iBook only has a CDRW combo drive.

I have thought about putting the LG GSA-4082B DVD writer from my PC into a firewire enclosure and using that on my Mac, but I read somewhere that iDVD is fussy about which drives it supports.

Another option would be to upgrade the internal drive on my ibook, but I a) don't really want to have to take it apart and b) don't like the cost of replacement drives, some of which are £130!

Ideally I want to be able to export from iMovie and burn the movies on my PC using Roxio Easy CD & DVD creator, but I haven't had any success getting a good quality export.

Are there any other options I haven't thought of, and can anyone reccomend what best to do. I really don't want to have to use my PeeCee for editing when I have a perfectly good mac.

Thanks
Andrew Wain

there is a program that triks the OSX to think the drive is an apple apprved drive.
i can't remember it's name and i'll try to find it.
try searching google for your problem you'll probobly get it.

also i think this problem was solved in IDVD5 (in Ilife 5).

also you can download another hack so that when you get the burn option you can save it as an image file. again look for it on google.

Thanks, I went out and bought iLife 05 and am trying to
save to an image and burn it on my pc. All looks
promising and I have got the latest version of iMovie.
Trouble is, I think I am pushing the old G4 800 to the limit
now. Needs more RAM methinks.
