Ok, ive searched through these forums and in general on the net and nothing ive tried so far has worked.
The school i work at has 2 laserwriter select 360 printers, which used to be the main printers once apon a time before i started working here. Now my boss would like me to set them both up in different classrooms for the teachers to use, however i have been having some difficulty getting the computers on the network to see them.
For each printer i have an asantetalk localtalk to ethernet converter. After having no luck getting either printer to show up on the network, I have been trying to get one of them to connect directly to the imac that i use, still with no success. I have the crossover cable that came with the asantetalk which the instructions for the asantetalk say must be used to connect a localtalk printer directly to the imac.
I have followed the instructions step by step setting up the connection yet the laserwriter 360 does not show up in the chooser no matter what i do. I downloaded the local-talk bridge and installed it in the control panel folder, still no dice.
From what I understand, the drivers and extension for the laserwriter 360 should be already installed as part of system 9.2.2. I've tried hooking these printers up to a few different computers directly and to a few different network connections with no success. Im using the yellow crossover cable when i try to connect the printer directly to an imac and a regular ethernet cable when i try and connect it to the network.
