There was an imac sitting on our offices for more than two years so I decided to bring it home last night to play (I know nothing about macs). I powered it up, then my daughter turned it on..and off...and on..and off..etc. I finally got a hold of it and fiddled around a bit then turned it off. I moved it into another room in the hope of connecting it to the network but it won't turn on...I have tried different power cords and several outlets but nothing. I click the power button below the screen and nothing happens. it worked fine with no errors just minutes before...any ideas??

If you have some evidence that it is getting power, you can try resetting it. On the right side, there's a panel. Look inside it. I believe on newer models there's actually a reset button. On older models, there's a tiny hole. You have to open a paper clip and stick the end in the hole to reset the machine. Sounds weird, but that's how it's done.
