Comment: i have an "indigo" 2001 slot loading imac with the cdrw. in june the P/V/A board board went bad and i had to replace it with a new board from preowned.com, which seemed to completely cure it's problems. a few days ago it simply quite and now will not start at all. when i push the start-up button the only thing that happens is a small dull flash in the bottom left hand corner of the moniter screen. the pilot light does not go on. no start-up chimes ring. i cracked the case hoping to find some clue but the only thing i could find amiss was a dead battery on the logic board. i replaced this but it had no effect.is the P/A/V board dead again? is there some way to test it? also i am having a very hard time finding technical information. where can i get TIL's on this machine? apple's k-base is most unhelpful on imacs. frustrated and starving for more info! please help! g

Reply: (edit)Sounds like you bought a used PAV Board and its dead, try this link for the manual(s) http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/manuals.html I would spend the money on a new PAV. There is a trickle voltage test described in the manual to test for a bad board if you have a voltage meter, but test carefuly and if you replace the PAV yourself, be sure you know what you are doing, you have to discharge the CRT and it can cause severe shock and/or death if done wrong.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the reply WilliamLH. The web site you gave me worked. I was able to download a service manual! The board i bought was new, according to the part number and it is warranteed for 180 days so if it has failed I may have some recourse. I will test it and go from there. I did install it and yes i did have to learn how to discharge the CRT. Thank you again. Ignorance no longer an excuse.

Reply: (edit)I have a Graphite IMac DV SE REV 3 Sloat Loader. I stripped the CRT out of the casing of the iMac and salavaged the power supply and all the computer logic. I plug in the A/C cord and LED blinks (D511 LED to be exact) on the main logic board but when I hit the power button...nothing. I've reset the PMU and I feel reasonably confident everything else is ok...it obviously gets power becuase of the blink but I've befuddled! Could someone help...plase e-mail me some assistance, I'm dead in the water! Thank you so much! Respectfully bowerstl@msn.com

Reply: (edit)I'm having a similar problem and would be grateful for any clues or a course of action. I have a Blueberry S-L 350 iMac - one of the original slot-loaders (ie the generation before the indigo 350 came out). I recently bought a 400 logic board/down convertor on ebay so I could have that tad extra speed + firewire + VGA out. After fitting it onto a known good power supply (my current iMac) it chimes on startup, I hear brief disc activity, it briefly lights up my USB hub and the caps lock key and then I can hear the disk spin down and the front led starts to pulsate. The screen doesn't kicks in at all. The on-board LED at D511 goes dim after the disk spins down. If I try to reset, I won't get a chime - unless I unplug and plug the AC cord. I reset the PMU. This 400 board has a daughterboard just behind the Airport socket - I would guess (only a guess) that is part of the video subsystem. Anyone have any ideas?
