Subject: imac upgrade 9.2.1 - freezing!!OS: OS 9.2.1CPU/Ram: 233 - maxed out ram |
Comment: Well, thinking i was making my machine better.. i may have messed it up! Here's the deal: I wanted to upgrade to some software (Adobe products) that was only 9.2 - X compatible, so I upgraded my 233 imac (first of the aqua's) to 9.2.1. (my ram is maxed out also, and my virtual memory is set at 300k) Next, i installed a few programs, not thinking about my shortage of memory. I got an warning reminding me of my low memory, so.. i decided to remove most of the programs.. I gained memory, but now my computer doesn't last but 5 minutes without slowing down to a stop. Eventually sometimes, it revives itself, and starts working again.. but If i have more then one window open in IE, it will slow down to a freeze (with the mouse still moving). I've tried shutting the program down, and when that works, it still is in slow motion mode.. then revives itself. Any ideas?
