A new problem I'm having with my iMac G3/400 DV slot-loader...when I boot the puter, the screen won't turn on. I can hear the machine going through it's boot processes and when they're over, if I hit the power button again as though to put the computer to sleep, the monitor will come back on and all will be well. I haven't installed anything recently that makes me think there's a conflict, although I'll check for that. In the meantime, is this something that's common? Fixable? Am I reduced to hitting the power button to turn on the monitor until I can replace it? Thanks.

When the last time you replaced the clock battery?

It's been awhile, in fact past due. But that would kill the screen? (Not doubting, just curious.)

The screen should'nt turn on at all with a dead clock battery. This is one of those little Mac things that is odd. This may not be the problem, but it is worth the $15.00 fo rthe battery and about 10 min. of your time to install.
