Comment:

A friend with imac has had her modem
burn out (lightning surge), and has been
quoted an arm and a leg for a
replacement. She has been told that she
can't use an external 56k unless the
existing modem is completely disabled.
How accurate is this info, how difficult is
this to do, and what is the best way to
connect a 56k?
