Comment: I have a major problem. I got a great deal on my new iMac G5 from a local business. The machine was used but only a few months old. When I got the machine I got everything that came with the iMac except for the documentation and the restore DVDs. So I searched eBay to find the restore DVDs that came with the G5 iMac and purchased them. This morning I erased my hard drive (after backing up of course) and started to install from the newly acquired DVD only to have it error out before it even started to install saying that it can’t install on this computer! I have iMac G5 restore DVD’s... what am I missing here. Can you not install the OS from another machines disks? If so how do I go about it? I have already spent nearly $100 Canadian on these restore DVDs I really don’t want to purchase more software. Anyone have any ideas?

Reply: (edit)The discs you have evidently came with a different model G5 iMac. Apple ships discs that are machine specific with new machines.
