After moving to the states and back and playing different DVD on our iMac (only video source we have) we realise there is only a very limited number of times to change the area code of the reader - and now we are locked in region 1 while we also hve many european DVD's now apparently useless to us! (not to mention forget about rental) Anyone know if this is a software problem I can get around or if it is a permanent hardware change that has happened?
This is normal and most of the DVD players are locked to one area code. You are allowed to change it a few times (usually 5). Now, it appears that the DVD readers in recent Apple computers are no longer locked (example an iMac bought in the US by a friend and an iBook recently bought in France). For your problem, drop me an e-mail, I may help you.
