ok so my imac won't boot from a disk or any other way. i've changed the pram battery, zapped the pram, reset the cuda, and did a little dance and still nothing!!! anybody got any ideas?

upon startup, i get the start sound from the speakers, the screen turns on to white, then gray about 1/2 a second later and stays solid gray for about 15 minutes. THEN the little happy mac comes up in the middle of the screen.

when i try to boot from the disk, it spins in the drive and when the screen turns gray it stops. then it starts to spin again as if loading or trying to load.

SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Sounds like you've got a touchie CD Drive, if
you've already tried to start from the CD and held
'C' down on the keyboard as it starts up. The
alternative is to attach a CD-ROM via USB or
Firewire and back up your data.

I hope your machine still under warrenty, cause it
sounds like you need to send that baby back for
repair. Well atleast Apple can change your dead
drive for something more workable.

I've seen this problem in a few iMac DV's in the
pass... think apple used a dodgie batch od cd
drives.

Let me know if you figure anything out!
