Comment:

When trying to use a CD on the slot type CDRW on this particularIMac, the CD produces a whirring sound for a couple seconds and then is ejected without ever showing on the desktop. Happens everytime with different CD's. Did work up until this time.

Being new to Mac's, wanted to know if this is hardware related (bad CDRW); and if not, any suggestions as to what can be tried.

Thanks

That sounds like hardware. With the slot
loader, you might need to give it a decent
push into the drive...I've had that on my
Powerbook before.

Otherwise, you can get replacement
drives online.

Hi!

I've had the same trouble with my new imac, insert
DVD (Packard Bell DVD+RW) and it just clicks/whirrs
before the disc is ejected. Incompatibility issues?

Any advice most welcome.
Gareth
