I just bought an imac 400 mhz/DVD. When it starts this comes up Mac OS: Boot Failure (OXF3C48IF6). then Mac OS: ROM checksum Failure.

Then it gos to Apple POwerMac2 1.2.441 boot ROM built on 02/12/00 at 9:45:32
Then it tells me Welcome to Open firmware. To continue booting type "mac-boot" and press return. I do this and gives me the Mac OS startup symbol and it stays there.

Need help!

Sounds like your OS is pretty screwy. Try booting it from an OS CD and wiping the hard disk, then reinstalling.

instead of typing mac-boot, try typing bye

if it doesn't start up normally after that,
then there's just some obscure bug going
on- do you have a system disk or utilities
disk to boot from??
