Comment: Hi. I'm going to get an 350mhz Blueberry iMac from a friend that has no hard drive. I'm hoping to get this iMac running Jaguar or Panther after I install a Western Digital hard drive. I've got a couple of questions about this: 1.) It's a 40gb hard drive, does the 8gb rule apply to this iMac? 2.) Will the 7200rpm drive work okay with the iMac? 3.) How do I format the hard drive if I boot from the Panther CD? Right now, the hard drive is using the FAT32 filesystem and is only one partition. I can change this on my PC using FDisk if I need to. Thank You

Reply: (edit)Thanks, that answered the questions (I solved #3 on my own) Now there's one more question: Does "7200rpm drives may be too hot for iMacs" mean that they can over-heat or that there may be problems when transfering data?

Reply: (edit)#1 No partitions needed (8gig rule does not apply) your imac is new enough for it not too. #2 7200rpm drives are fin my blueberry imac 500mhz came with harddrive: 20gig@7200rpm howeverit was lined with rubber on the top side i do not believe you have to line it with rubber to use it the temp. should be fine. #3 Format does not matter you can reformat when install is being performed. for further info an assistance E-mail me... Good Luck!!!
