I can not install iDVD on my Titanium G4 Powerbook.
Should iDVD install and run on the Powerbook?
Any guidance will be most appreciated! I would
enjoy copying our vacation digital video to a DVD
to share with our family.
I have a Revo Cyclone, Toast Titanium 5, and a lot
of generic DVD-R (4.7 & 9.4), DVD-RW and CD-R. I
have used iMovie and Toast to put them on VCDs,
but we are the only ones in the family with DVD
players that can play VCDs. I would like to be
able to send out our stuff on a DVD that will play
on most DVD players. At 17gb of digital video on
just one hour of tape, it would be nice to use the
DVD-Rs. Yes I am new at this, and I can't see
spending $999.00 for Final Cut Pro. In that case,
the family will just have to vacation with us next
time and take their own movies.
Thanks, David

Which version of OS X do you have installed?
What happens when you try to install it?

Anything that can read CD-RW can read CD-R.

iDVD, last I checked, wasn't available as a standalone installer, and therefore, to get it on a PB G4, you must be "borrowing" a copy from someone else.

This, of course, is piracy.

Not true picklle!
My dvd player does not read cd-r's at all,But it will
read a cd-rw no prob.
I've also tried the cd-r couterpart to the rw's I use
and still have had no luck.
Further more even the book for toast mentions
that alot of dvd players will read cd-rw's and not
cd-r's.

From the Apple support page
Question 7: Can I use iDVD with other CD-R or DVD-R drives?

Answer: No. iDVD is designed to only work with Apple DVD-R drives, available on certain configurations of Power Mac G4 and iMac (flat panel) computers.

Andy, you've got a broken DVD player. CD-Rs are actually *easier* to read than CD-RWs, and anything capable of reading CD-RW can read CD-R.
