hi. we have a home network with three
PCs and one iMac. The imac has Dave
software. we set up the three pc's to use
internet sharing with 56k and i was
wondering if it is possible to have the
network share the internet with my mac.
if so, how?

I am assuming you are using the ICS provided via
the WIN98 or such. Here is a link to Microsoft that
may help.

The Pickle may be able to help if he can.

The thing I did not like about ICS via software was
that a PC had to always be on for it to work. I
bought Airport to do this and yes it will work with
PCs. Up to 50 computers can be connected and
all be online at the same time sharing one
connection. Once configured the airport will
connect anytime an online request is made by
any computer on the network.

Sharing a 56K connection is a waste of time and will only serve to frustrate the people using the computers.

That said, most broadband routers also have serial ports so you could, in theory, hook a modem to them and use them without having a computer running ICS turned on all the time.

DHCP is the same with OS X or the Classic Mac OS.

I have looked for a bullet proof way to make sure
this works. You will be using Dave on the mac
and you should have access the Host Already.
Check this out but it seems XP is acting as server
and is using DHCP. So you should be able to just
link right on into the smb and get on the net. But
here is link that may help. Sorry that it took so long
to get back to you and I will keep looking.
