iChat works with AOL IM accounts, and with Apple .Mac accounts. However, if you sign up with Jabber and register with MSN transport you can get into MSN with iChat. See this site for more information.
You can use your MSN account on your Mac with MSN Messenger for Mac (www.microsoft.com/mac) Proteus (www.proteusx.com) or Fire (fire.sourceforge.net)
