I tried installing an airport extreme card into my ibook that bestbuy sold me, i put it in, turned on the computer, and nothing happened, i removed the card and called amc station and they told me its the wrong card, i need REV E. so i tried powering the ibook back up and now it wont make the sound and start up. the caps lock and num lock keys used to light up, though. and then i reset the PMU and now just the caps lock lights up. does anyone know what else i can try or what might be wrong?

have you found a solution for this? I have the same problem.. caused the same way as well. I have tried the reset button.. and many other PMU reseting procedures with no luck.

Have you tried booting from your install CD? Inseert CD and press C on start up. If this is successful, then check that the start up folder is set to Mac OS(X) . Otherwise you could try a reinstall from the bootup CD. Regards, Kyomii

found a solution, turns out some pins were bent on the socket and shorting together, i had to rip the casing and shielding from underneath (no ext. cosmetic damage) to get at the pins and straighten them. 1 pin snapped off, and i got my hands on a REV3, so i am ripping it apart and soldering the one wire directly to the card.
