ibook won't go to sleep/no audio

My new model ibook OS 9.2 won't go to sleep. When I select 'sleep'from the menu, it tells me that some of the software is missing. Also there is no audio/sound. I can't adjust the volume at all. Then 'system error 10/ comes up and the machione freezes everytime I try to connect via remote access, to IE 5 or Netscape. Please advise. I don't have any of the original CD's. What can I do??
