Hello Everyone, I was just given an iBook and I pretty well no nothing about the MAC other than it is a computer. I've been using PCs for years so I assume there's not much difference. But here's the problem. It won't boot. When I push the power button there is a chime then a few seconds later a gray screen will appear with one lone folder icon in the center of the screen and in the folder there are two images alternating from one then the other, a question mark and what appears to be a face. So that's pretty much it. Anyone that can tell me what I have or what I can do I would greatly appreciate. Thank you all, Larry

The flashing ? icon means the system can't find a valid bootable system folder. Several possibilities: 1. The hard drive was erased prior to you receiving it and you need to install a system on it, 2. The system that is on the hard drive is corrupt and the system needs reinstalled, 3. The hard drive is failing or has failed, 4. The hard drive controller or logic board has failed. You need to get a system install disc and boot from it and run Disc First Aid (OS 9) or Disc Utility (OS X) so you can start to diagnose the problem.
