My daughter called this morning with a problem. she has an ibook and has been running system 9. A friend told her how easy it was to switch to OS-x if she wanted to check it out. They tried - it didn't. NOW - the smiley face appears with a message: "unable to find driver for this platform...powerbook 4.1". There is more information, strings of characters, something that says "panic, we are hanging here; starting debug".
any ideas? She can't find here OS cd...

Sounds like OS X got kernel panicked.

She'll have to find the OS 9 CD to fix it.
