When the iBook G4 is in sleep mode, what is turned off and what are still "running". Is the sleep mode safe when travelling by train, or in backpack running in campus from class to class and jostling in crowds?

For example, the IBM Thinkpad in sleep mode, the hard drive is still running while in Hibernation the hard drive is turned off. Many Thinkpad students put it in Hibernation, throw it into backpack and run all over campus everyday.

Would appreciate hearing from you.

There is no such thing as Hibernation on the Mac The whole point of the Sleep command is so that you can carry your iBook G4 around without having to turn it off and then reboot it again when you need it.

So, when the iBook G4 is in sleep mode, is the hard drive turned off?

Or, can someone tell me what are the things being turned off when the iBook is in sleep mode?
