Subject: iBook OS X 10.2 onto Biege G3
OS: OS 9.1
CPU/Ram: Biege G3 300MHz 320MB
Comment:

Can you install Mac OS X 10.2 software that was
taken from an iBook computer and install it on a
Biege G3 300 MHz? I currently have OS 9.1
running on my G3. I want to buy them off eBay.
The software is onl;y 2 disks and have "iBook"
printed on the discs. Also I can buy a "full" version
of OS X 10.2 but the software is from an eMac?
Has anyone had any success or problems when
doing this? Should I go buy the full version which
they are selling to me for $120?

Thanks,
s---zkrieg

Check out Apple's specifications page:
http://www.info.apple.com/support/applespec.html
You may need to look at the link for older products. Choose your model and see if it is capable of running OS X first.

Cameron is correct.

I have a number of Biege G3s and none of them have successfully run OS X - despite many attempts. It really is a futile exercise, as these days a Biege G3 is at least 5 years old, and if it could run OS X would do so slowly. These are great Macs but they were built before USB etc. Running OS 8.6 or 9.x on them is still a fantastic computing experience and sometimes they feel faster and more responsive than OS X ever does!

that is all BS!!!!!
I am running os 9.2.2 and 10.2.8 dual boot on a mac g3 beige desk top!!!!
you must install the 10.2.8 to the first partition of the drive (must not be more than 8mb MAX partition to work), and no less than 9.2.2 to a differnt partition first!

works just fine.
