I am currently in the prcess of switching to Mac. I like the portability of the iBook but the spec of the celeron powered imacs are really tempting and the same price. What would you advise for a new mac user??

The iBooks have yet to be updated to the new Intel based processors (they are not Celeron from what I understand but a new processor call the Core Duo or Core Solo). The iMacs have changed already and are phenomenally fast. Really your question should be if you need portability or not though. The iMac is far superior but the iBook is nice if you want to go off into the mountains to use your computer.
Good luck!
