iBook hard drive

Comment:
My three year old iBook running the admittedly old OS9 is unable to recognize its hard drive. Neither software reinstall or restore works as hard drive is unrecognizable. Any help or is it hopeless?

Admittedly old OS 9? There is more work being accomplished with that OS than with OS 10, I gaurantee you that. More home users using 9 than 10. Don't sell it short.

Have tried the Disc First Aid with no luck. When using the disc to boot-up the drive wants to initialize the CD. Once that option is canceled, the systems file on the CD is in use and the hard drive is unreadable and unrecognizable. Thus no First Aid nor software install or restore works. Thanks for the help, - thudson

Sounds like either you're not booting it properly from the CD or your CD drive is shot. Are you holding down the C key?
