My dad recently got a 14 inch iBook and it was working well untill we went on a plane, when we woke it, the screen was black with periodic white lines flickering every 20 seconds or so. then, after about a minute, the screen goes to what apears to be a dead pixel checker, flashing red, white, yellow, black, green, blue so on... after some pecking around on the keyboard i pressed the play key for iDVD and it played the dvd that was in the computer already. i heard it but i couldnt see it; the screen was still flasing colors. ive tried hard booting it with or without the dvd Im not a mac guy, sorry to say. So any help apreciated. thanks :)

sounds like interference or flaky connection to screen, try disabled extensions reboot (shift), check screen settings, check with system/disk utilities for errors, :)
