html link to local file

I have created a web page that links to local files on my mac instead of files on the server (I want to stream audio and video faster than the server, for an educational testing application). Anyway, when i click on one of the links in IE5, i get the annoying alert "Do you want to open the document foo.rm with the application Real Media Player." This happens with all files I wish to link to locally, not merely Real Media. I'm using Mac OS9 with IE5. Once again, How can i disable the annoying alert window that pops up when creating an html page that provides a link to a local file on my personal mac (not to another file on the server)? Here's the code i've used: foo.rm

Not being an IE user, I can say that there should be a 'preferences' setting within IE that allows you to assign a specific app to handle specific file types within IE. You can designate '.rm' files to be handled by 'Real Media Player' and that should take care of it.

I've tried all the different options in IE for how to handle the file types. It still does the same thing.
