I need some drivers for a HP Cd-Writer
8210-E USB Burner, mac drivers... I assumed that since it was USB, it was automatically compatible, but since HP has no Mac drivers for it, i was wondering if someone here could help... Thanks!

Hey,
I recieved an answer. I guess all you need to know is if Toast by Adaptec is compatible with the drive. I'm not sure if it is yet or not, but it's a start.
Thanks

I've tried using Toast Deluxe 4.1 on a new iMac SE with this burner and it doesn't recognize it. I'm pretty sure that you need the drivers for the burner since it's USB, and the guy I spoke to at HP said that there could be third-party drivers out there somewhere. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

I need some USB Mac drivers for a HP CDRW8200

I need some USB Mac drivers for a HP CDRW8210E.
If anyone has a solution please let me know. Thanks!!!

I'm in the same boat...
Probably, what we need is:
"USB-SCSI bridge for HP 8200series".
Who could make it?
HP? -No.
Apple? - No.
any o.e.m.? -No.
Where to find?

Well there sure are quite some looking
for a driver that 'might' exist. And as yet no
success!?
I want it to...

Someone please find it or create it... I'm the proud
owner of a 8230e, works great with my PC and I
would REALLY like to get it working with my Mac
as well...

Yes, I also own an HP 8200e usb and need a driver, so if someone finds anything, please add me to your list of people to contact.

My solution was to buy the ADS Pyro firewire case, open up the HP8210e case, remove the bare drive from within it, and install it into the firewire case. Works like a charm now! Anyone need a spare HP usb case...?

Hi folks,
I'm in the same boat as all of you. I own a
HP 8200e and it doesn't work with my
Mac. Do let me know if any of you have
access to the solution. Thanks.

I have some problem...
HP is a bad company
and dont like macs....
the wrong is buy product hp.....

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!!!
I have my 8210e(USB and allegedly unusable on Mac)working perfectly on my G4 under TOAST deluxe 4.2 (Direct CD refuses to work though!!)
Email me, and I will send you the files needed/info on how to do it--it's really quite straightforward, but took me days of searching/restarting/hacking around to get it done.
Your email is NOT gonna be used for any spam etc--I just thought this was the best way of reaching the masses!!Cheers,
Mike

I'm planning on buying an iBook G3. Will I be able to install the necessary drivers on it?
Thanks for your advice.

I did it to using toast 4.1 and updated it..
to 4.1.2..Works good now..But that's about
the only CD burning software I could find
of use to me.
I'll keep on looking and since I know HP
is watching this forum (they are the ones
sending me here) HP sux !!! How much
work can it be to make a Mac driver...I
gues they are afraid Mac users will find it
a lower standard product..
After all we're used to working with the
best ;)

not directly related but does anyone know if there are drivers for 8210 for windows nt?
Thanks

I'm looking for a way to run my HP 8200 e
drive with my Mac. If anyone finds a
solution please e-mail me. Thank

Re: my HP CD-RW 8230e

Does any one have a cheap Cd Writer drive for Windows if the price is low I will be happy to buy. Just email me at goldenchild_1001@yahoo.com
I will poay for ship and handling and all.

Like all you I can't get my new 8200
series cd writer to work on mac os9.04 it
is becoming an obsession. I don't like to
lose (does anybody) i tried mikes'
solution on response 19 (thanks) and still
no joy although something goes on
between the two. I am desparate to win,
please help............... (suggestion- why not
just supply a driver HP??? is it really so
difficult or are you waiting for Os X?) or
just dont buy their products - far more
sensible.. and something i for sure will
never do again.

i need the same drivers.
please notice me when u have
something.
thanks
Estamos igual de jodidos!!!!!

I'm looking for the same drivers for the HP
Cd-Writer 8210-E. Let me know when you

So, add my name to the list, and anyone who has advise, it would be appreciated. Please email me!
HP sent me advice that this site existed, Roxio (Toast) claim support for the HP family of USB writers includint he 8230e but don't actually support them at all. Thats got to be breaking some law? Its not really an HP fault as they build for the PC market and leave (as most manufacturers do) support to Roxio for both Windows and Mac platforms, however Roxio have dropped the ball on this one. But here is the deal, the HP drive is available everywhere and if they supported it they would sell more Toast, so why not write in support, it carn't be that hard?? HP needs to put some presure on Roxio to catch up.
A new version of Toast is out soon, perhaps it works?? In the meantime we hate HP and don't believe Roxio... Got to effect future purchasing!!

I need to know the way to put my
cd-recorder : Hp 8230 E USB functional
on my Mac G4 Cube ? Please help me..i
saw messages that we works whit Toast
Deluxe 4.2 but i have the 5.0 Titanium
anda it doesn't work ! Neider the sistem
accept it....and he stops working on the
begining of the inicialization of sistem
when the cdr-w is conected! Someone
help me, please ! =(

The Roxio compatibility database says that toast supports two different versions of the HP 8230e drive: the one with a 8250i drive and the other with a 8290 drive.
I think that the name of the used internal drive should be written somewhere on the underside of the drive.

Please add me to the list! I'm in the
same boat. I just purchased the Titanium
Powerbook & need the drivers for the HP
8200 series CDWriter. Please send
them if you have them! Thanks for your
time.

If anyone have soluotion to maker HP Cd-Writer work on Mac, please email me.
Thanks in advance!

there are drivers with toast 4.1.2(?) that run the hp 8200e usb burner. after getting them I have been using 4.2 deluxe perfectly fine. if you are unable to locate these drivers yourselves, feel free to send email to me and I will send the drivers (3 of them) to you.

To Brian repsonse 37...
I have just about exhausted myself looking
for a driver for the 8200 for Mac. I have
Toast 4.1 but it still doesn't recognize the
drive itself. Have you found the answer?
Please send me the files. I am going nuts
trying to get this working.

Well I have the 8230e and I have the same problem... If anyone's got a idea please mail me... And to all the Mac User's why don't we just boycott HP until they bring out the Mac SOftware and Drivers for those models ?????

There's this curious comment at the end
of this review of the 8200E that seems to
suggest that a solution is out there? See
last line.-----------------------------------------------------

htmlAny Bad Tastes?
'Nitpick time... HP could improve on their
"User Guide" as this one didn't stack up
with those of other HP products we've
reviewed. More importantly, it would also
be a good thing if the data CD's you
create on the PC were somehow
comparable with the Mac format. As it is
you have to buy a $95.00 program to use
them on any Mac system. Other than that,
it was delicious.'
