how to release and renew an ip?

i have a mac connected to my router, everything works fine, but i just wanted to know how can i do a release and renew on my mac,instead of restarting machine, for example, i had an ip on my mac 192.168.1.100 i went into router to change the ip of router, then in order for my pc to get the new ip address i have to restart my mac, now windows pc has a command i can do to release and renew so i wont have to restart, do any of u know if thats possible in my mac and how?

All you have to do is set the Network pref pane to something other than Ethernet (or AirPort, if you're using that). Set it back to the original setting and your DHCP lease will be renewed.
