First, please check the Microphone settings within the Sound preference pane. You will find this on all OS X versions in System Preferences. Open the Apple menu that is located at the very top, left corner of your screen, and open System Preferences. Open Sound under the Hardware category. Click the Input tablet to make the Input pane active. Change your mic settings as necessary; you will note that OS X allows you to see how loud your mic is in the window.

If you need further help, please let me know. It's been a pleasure to assist you. :)

Your headset may or may not be detected by your version of OS X. Use the same instructions that were given to the previous poster to get to the Input pane in Sound within System Preferences. Look for "External Device", "Line-in" or a generic name if your headset's make and model is not detected.

Also, to decrease static, lower the volume in the Sound preference pane, turn off cellular devices near the computer, and if you happen to have any fans or sound equipment near the mic, turn these off.

Let me know what else you need help with. :)

Hi.

Thanks for the reply :D

I still have static noises during skype calls. wen i move the macbook monitor or try knocking it, it then disappears for a bit. if i start moving the mac around to adjust seating, the static appears again n i hv to knock or move the screen up n down ... what can it be done to remove the static. is it coz of internal wiring or the speaker is broken or something..

thanks :D
