Hey I'm kinda new to setting up mac's and mac's in general. I am quite network savvy, but I am wondering how to set up a Appletalk zone. If someone could help me. The reason is that I am trying to print over a network from a mac to a printer connected to Windows 2000. I have set up the appletalk protocal in windows 2000 but it seems to want a appletalk zone to connect over. I have been trying to find out how from the help files, but my one problem with mac's is that they tell you everything you already know and nothing you wanna know!! If anyone can help me PLEASE.. thank you!!

go to your chooser and turn on apple talk. restart. go to the control panel and go to apple talk. set up for printer port. if you have to use tcp/ip its in the control panel. go back to the chooser choose the appletalk icon and see if it locates your pc

That last comment didn't help at all. The question is how do you CREATE an appletalk zone. It is quite easy to turn on appletalk, and I assume that uf there is a zone it is quite easy to select it for your printer, but WHAT IF THERE IS NO ZONE??? HOW DO YOU CREATE ONE??

Summary: Thanks Pickle! OK, I see, you need a router to set up a AppleTalk zone and no Macs can act as a router. Now, what kind of router is this? An Apple-specific router? Pickle, I was just curious as to h...
