OK, I need some suggestions on how to best speed up a G3-500Mhz ibook. Please don't tell me to go buy a new computer or some smart alecky answer like that. Right now I don't have the cash to buy a new PowerBook Pro so I need some creative solutions to squeeze some more speed and oomph out of this laptop. Thanks in advance.

Best speed increase you'll see is by putting the max RAM in
your machine that it can hold.

Next would be replacing the stock 4200 RPM drive with a
5400 RPM hard drive.
