powerbook for sequencing music using
cubase, logic and other music software, however
this want be at a higy level only at a basic level so
what do you recomend i buy. The biggist or the

The easy answer is buy as much ram as you can afford. You will never have too much ram. However, it is easy to upgrade ram in the iBook and the PowerBook. Ram is actually much cheaper now than when I purchased an iBook.Enjoy your Mac.

Yes you can, just surf to the Apple support site and they give you directions. We did it with our iBook without a problem. Here is the url: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50031
Enjoy the laptop, we use ours to take notes in lectures and to record research out in the field, and wirelessly around the house.

I was at the Apple "store" online and they have
recommendations for music, video, etc. I remember music
was a lot of RAM. I would ask the same question at many
more message boards. Most Importantly, find out the
different kinds of RAM available, the fastest RAM you can
install on your computer and then depending on how
many slots you have for your RAM, just buy it a little at a
time, try to wait till it's on sale. I'm waiting for some DDR
SDRAM PC2700 (this RAM runs at 333Mhz) It's very
confuzing to me because the speed of the RAM is related
to the FBS or Front Side Bus speed. and different from the
System Bus speed. Most of the good Tech support people
I've talked to lately have told me that the main
"bottleneck" that's keeping computers slow is how fast the
RAM can push the data from the CPU to the hard drive and
then the video card and sound card. DDR is Double Digital
Rate. meaning it's runs the data through the RAM 2 times
per CPU cycle. which is twice as fast as regular SD RAM
128 DDR SD RAM should be as fast as 256 SD RAM if they
are running the same Front side Bus speed. Confusing,
huh?I don't really understand it that well myself. because the
CPU and chip set makes a difference too. I think that
affects the entire system bus. not just the Front Side Bus. I
haven't been to school though. I just talk a lot with tech
support people and people online. double check on the
stuff I tell you in case I'm mistaken please. Good luck with
your music. A really good sound card is important. I know
that.
