I have an @Home USB to ethernet
adapter, but no software driver to run it! I
can find no universal drivers for USB to
ethernet for Mac. Are there such things?
How might I make this work? Tips much
appreciated!

There are no Macs that have USB that
lack Ethernet. Why do you need a
USB-to-Ethernet converter?

BTW, there are no Mac drivers for any
such device that I've ever heard of.

Regarding your post, do you have any further information on USB-Ethernet adapter drivers for Mac? I've got an iMac with a dead ethernet port & would like to try using an adapter rather than replacing the main board. What is the manufacturer of this adapter? Thanks,Keith

I also have an Imac in my office that I use for testing web material presentation. The ethernet is dead on this one too and I am looking for a USB ethernet solution!

I have been searching for such a device
for a while now, but the drivers don't exist
because the only way someone would
need one on a Mac is if their ethernet port
died. If anyone finds one with Mac
drivers, I would like to know. Thanks!

Geez, I'd like one too.

I'd like to use my new iMac to bridge
between the virus-clean LAN in my lab
and the virus-laden internet.

Now I'm using a Mac with 2 ethernet
ports, but it's aging.

Having a Mac as a bridge isn't going to
stop all those nasty PC viruses any better
than having a hardware firewall/router
combo would, and neither is a substitute
for decent antivirus software...

Uh oh, gotta a fried ethernet port on my iMac and don't want to invest $$ in a main board or new system at this time.

Does anyone have an update on if there are any drivers for this adaptor yet? I put the adaptor on my imac and it recognized the adaptor and asked for the driver. That's when I started searching the net.

Thanks,
Suzanne

I have a Green 400mhz iMac. It has a cooked Ethernet port. I simply can't believe that there is not a USB to Ethernet adapter for this hardware somewhere out there. It is easier to find stuff for my Linux machine. Anyone know of a USB to Ethernet adapter that works on a iMac? THANKS!

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! With all this technology, we should throw away a computer because of a fried ethernet card???. We posted this request on several places on the net and got only one reply. Try going to macwarehouse.com and search for dad1909. It is a listed there as mac/pc and the person said he had not tried it. We have not had the opportunity to either. When we went to the manufacutures web site (StarTech.com) it did not say it was compatable with Macs, but it might be worth a try. Good Luck

I'm working on fixing the same broken
Ethernet port on a company iMac. Thanks
to an ongoing thread at the Apple
Discussion board, I checked out a site that supposedly has a
USB->Ethernet adapter. Somehow I was
able to find their ftp site which has the
Mac drive for it. Now off to google.com to see
if I can find out where to buy the product.

Has anyone figured this out yet?

My daugher has an iMac with a
non-funtional ethernet port...
lightning fried it, and the 8-port
netgear switch at the other end.

Thanks,
Paul

This is interesting that so many people have the same problem. I of course have this problem, and thought it was only me and my stupid Imac. I am considering contacting apple regarding this with a possible action that might include recall of the faulty units.
