Hey y'all. I have an x86 Linux box and a new iBook and was kind of wondering if there was any way at all to network them. I know that I COULD use Ethernet, as both have 10/100 cards, however, I'm too dang lazy to buy a crossover cable. Is there any way to link them together via their modems (can't use dial-up).
Also, I'm trying to install WindowsNT 3.51 Workstation on Connectix VirtualPC 4.0.2, and I get through the first stage of setup (WINNT.EXE /B /X) ok, but when it shows the actual NT kernel booting up, I get a STOP error. Why?
How much ram is in your ibook?,cause for virtual pc 5 the min amount of ram to run nt 4.0 is 192mb under os x and 128mb under os 9,as for nt 3.51 it's possible that vpc 4.0 simply can't run it,cause even in the book for vpc 5.0 it list's all compatable os's.
dos,win95,win98,win me,win 2000(pro),win xp(home+pro),win nt 4.0 and linux.
No mention of nt 3.51!

Instead of crossover: Why not buy a cheap ethernet hub and patch cables. It will allow you to add to the scenario later.
