I've got a LaCie 120 GB FireWire HD. I want to use it to back up data from both XP and OS X systems. I want to create 2 partitions for each systems. Is it possible? If I format the HD in one system how can I mount it on the other system. ANy help please. Thanks,

You can probably format it on the Windoze box to have four partitions, and then erase two of those and reformat them on the Mac box as HFS Plus.
