Help! Trouble Opening Zip Files

Here’s an easy one I bet. I have a MAC OS9. How do I open ZIP files?? I downloaded some fonts and they were saved on my desktop in a zip file. When I expand it I just get the folder with the read me file and something with the font’s name followed by ".TTF " I tried dropping both files in my systems font folder and restarted but the font doesn’t come up in the menu. What’s up? Thanks!

What you have are TRUE TYPE fonts. These are of limited to NO value to you. You need POSTSCRIPT fonts. Postscript fonts contain two parts, the SCREEN and the PRINTER portion. If you get the SCREEN portion only, then the font will view correct and may not print correct (probably will if you are running adobe ATM). Toss the TTF's.

TrueType fonts are quite useful. The problem is that they're probably Windoze TrueType fonts. You need a converter to use them on your Mac. Versiontracker.com has several links to such programs.
