can anyone explain why my que usb burner decides not to work from time to time? I have a 9.2 OS on an imac and the computer can't seem to locate the burner even though the system profiler says that it's there... ie: toast titanium says that the burner can't be located, the burner tray won't even open up.
HELP!

USB burners are generally not as reliable as their FireWire, SCSI, or IDE counterparts.

The Toast extension will not load if the CD-R drive
is not on at
start-up. If you turn it on after boot up, you do
NOT need to restart to
use the drive.

Hope this helps

Hmm...the Toast extension loads up fine on my Macs even if the burner isn't powered on...

Thanks for the advice, guys. it may be an extension conflict or something because the toast extension seems to stall start up. i've tried switching suspicious extensions off and on but it doesn't seem to help. is there another driver or software that i could use with the burner? i'm pretty fed up with toast. i'd buy a fire-wire burner if i could afford it.

I had the same problem. I had updated
my toast software. I had to revert back to
(Titanium 5.0.2). Turn off the following
extensions... (USB Authoring Support)
(SDAP Authoring Support) My burner is
also recognised without being "plugged"
in at start up.

I can't get my Hp burner to copy discs. I get the "illegal request' error message # 0x20.
I've updated to Toast version 5.0.2 and still nada, I've tried turning off several extentions to no avail, any ideas?

thanx

only the extensions from version 5.0.2 work!
I had to downgrade them back from version
5.1.4
I now work with 5.1.4 program and the older
usb drivers
