Hi, I'm a PC & Windows user (actually I am a Microsoft Certified Professional). Recently a friend asked me to help her get the following systems up and running for a deaf/blind school. I need some help on recognizing the hardware/software for these systems...

Macintosh LC II + Color Monitor (M1212)
1 x VRAM SIMM (used), 80 MB SCSI HDD

Macintosh LC III (M1254) + Color Monitor (M1212)
1 x DRAM SIMM (used), 500 MB IDE HDD

Macintosh II VX (M1350)

Macintosh 7200/90 Power PC
1 GB HDD

iMac M5521
IN/400/64/10/CD/128P/56K

The LCII and III's have problems, III comes up sounding music then nothing happens. The II comes up, then shows a diskette with a blinking ? on top of it...

Others I haven't tried yet.

My questions: Can I update the OS on these systems ? if yes, then how ?

What are each like ? Like I know the iMac would be like a P2 64 mb ram and so on... but is 7200/90 like 90 MHz ?

and Can I install Winnt4 on the power PC ?

thnx in advance.

MACS need a MAC O/S versions 7.1 and 7.5 are FREE

You can still find lots of info at:

http://www.info.apple.com/support/applespec.legacy/index.html

.. this will let you know what O/S is supported

http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html

..older software

It is not really possible to compare Intel x86 CPU with Motorola/PPC CPU, completely different architecture.

Look at the profiles. It's the only site you'll ever need.

Thanks people.

Macintosh II VX (M1350) has problems....

iMac M5521 doesn't have a keyboard / mouse port ! I mean there are no PS2 ports and when I turned it on, nothing happened, so forget that too.

Macintosh 7200/90 Power PC came on, very slowly. even if I could install Winnt4 on it, I don't think i'd like to...

thnx for the links.
