Help- Install Ricoh-rw to PM 7500

It's a G3 Sonnet Crescendo CPU & plenty of RAM. Original Apple CD-ROM works, but would like to utilize the Ricoh 6200s to lessen the load in the 4 GB HD.
Toast recognizes the drive- but it doesn't show on desktop nor will it boot an OS disk.
The front panel CD lights up- but that's it for the CD-RW.
Tried the terminator on & off the cd-rw. All possible jumper configs....no go.
Can someone tell me what I've missed? I've found this model to work, via groups, so I assume I have missed something? The old links in Google don't work anymore so.....
