When trying to update from OS9.1 to
OS9.2.1 the installation procedure stops
with a 'cannot read disk' message. The
same message appears when running
the disk-firstaid program after some time
both when checking and repairing boxes
selected. The IBook works fine though..!
Any idea what's happening here? Txs

3 things
1 the file must be on the drive that it will install too
or on a Bootable CD
2The file cannot be renamed(I tried this as I
dowloaded it from a PC and named it 8+3 DOS
format so I could burn it) Had to rename it back.
3 Is it verifying the file and stops with cannot read
disk or is it trying to read the hard drive for
verification of the existence of 9.1 and cannot
read disk?

The upgrade-file is downloaded on the
actual startup HD.
The installation (update)-programm firstly
checks the existing configuration (OS9.1).
This takes a minute or to and than the
procedure stops telling 'cannot read disk'.

You have several choices but none are good.
1.Buy a drive utility
2. Initialize the drive install 9.1 and add the
update
3. Don't update

I see # 3 as not a real option, # 1 is a good
investment but may not repair your problem and #
2 will wipe all your data but is the cheapest and
most likely fix. Sorry that there is no really good
news. Oh but wait...
Macsales.com has Norton system works for about
9 bucks. Look under specials. Almost forgot about
that. Made for OS 9 and X.
