Comment: I'm looking for someone who has an old Mac SE with a low density 3.5-inch floppy drive. I have Apple GS text files on a low density, 3.5-inch diskette, that I need converted to PC format. I'm told that the easiest way to do that would be to read the files into a Mac SE, save them as Mac text files, then e-mail or FTP the files to a PC. Please help me!

Reply: (edit)Most likely that is the way to do it. Or you can send them from one computer to the next using Appletalk, and the printer/modem port. But to read the floppy, you need a SE with the low density drive, look on ebay.com there are people who sell these, and some just sell the boards for upgrade to the DD floppy. What you have to do is either buy an SE with the drive you want, ( some boot from floppy only so be sure you git enough to make it run ) Or to save you some shipping, you can just buy a board, and a floppy. This will mean you swap the Main Board, and floppy, ( Floppy drive ROM's are different on both SE's with the different drives ) and Appletalk the data to another computer. Or contact the local AMUG " Apple Macintosh Users Group " in yer town, someone will have an SE to retrieve yer files ! Good Luck

Reply: (edit)If Snake would perhaps post his e-mail address, or get a hold of me privately via my e-mail link above, I can probably arrange something. p
