Hard disk will not boot up

The little icon starts off with a little folder, then changes to a flashing question mark inside the folder, then changes to an icon of a floppy disk with a little red dot in the lower left corner.What does the little red dot in the corner of the floppy disk icon mean?

Try booting from the cd and running disk first aid...if that doesnt work then try norton utilities....and if it still doesnt work try zapping your pram...(hold down the option,apple p and r keys before you hear the chime of the startup...keep holding it down until it reboots 3 times then let go (actually try that one first :) )...and if all else fails startup from your cd and do a clean install of your operating system...this will save your old system folder and all your files...:) andre

This is a form to help people, not pick on them because they are asking questions...i was just expanding on your method with a little more description...i have noticed your responses to others and they seem to be quite rude as well...this causes people to think twice before asking a question on this form...so, i ask and probably many other people ask for you to be a little less harh on those who are asking the questions...thank you...
