Hard disk reporting wrong free space

I have a 4G HD and the info for it's telling me I've only about 400M free. I've trawled through all folders on the HD and desktop and I can only come to about 1G used. I ran a Norton Disk Doctor where it said everythings ok, and a defrag where it told me not enough free space to defrag fully. I turned off virtual memory and extentions but still pretty much the same. Where has all this HD space gone?

Just as I needed help I think I've solved it. I'm not sure which of the two thing that I did solved it but its worked. I was having the same problem as chewy. All I have done is deleted winboot.ini from my root directory (ot sure why it was there) and also deleted other useless files from there (the root directory apparently has limited size unlike other folders). Hope this helps everyone, Adam
