Is there a Mac software piece that does
the same sort of thing as Norton Ghost or
Drive Image Pro ????
Software that will allow me to image an
entire hard disk, so that I can replace the
existing HD with a new larger one. Then I
can simply copy the old image onto the
new drive.

Why not add a larger HD as a SECOND
drive?
Then copy the info to the larger drive, and still have the orig drive for addtnl storage.

Dealing with laptops. That is why I want to
do images... I am a PC network admin... it
is easy on the PC side. I am sure it is just
as easy on the MAC side.... Just needed
to know what software is best.....

Thanks...

hello,

came across this thread in a search for
"disk imaging & mac".

i'm in the same boat sort of (need to
image zip disks, so as to back them up
and be able to reload them to zip when
needed), but i need software which
doesn't care what format the disks are in.

i can image a non-mac formated disk
with disk copy, but upon trying to "mount"
the image i get an error, basically saying
it is not a recognised format.

shrink wrap is another, but the demo on
aladdin's site isn't working for me.

running os 8.6.

btw, the format i'm working with isn't of
importance, its propreitary. i don't care
about reading the images on my mac i
just want a way to back them up and be
able to reload them to disk when needed.

one other question that puzzles me, how
would one combine 2 or more images
into one?

thanks.

I am really pissed off by the MAC and by search tools that cannot find what I am
looking for even if I try all the logical
and, or, not, tricks of the trade.
Search tools are in dire need of something new !!
Listen LEXIQUEST,ALTAVISTA, EXCITE, LYCOS, GOOGLE

What I am looking for is a good copy tool which can backup Mac hard disks without changing a single byte.
DRIVE IMAGE 6 does it for PC based software,
W9X,W2K, NT, LINUX extfs, ext2fs
but try to find the same stuff for Macs...
They must hide it in a niche and there is no
decent formulation of the question that will send GOOGLE or other tools on the right track
Your answers are welcome

You clearly didn't read anything else in
this thread before you vented your anger,
did you?
